RAD2005 FAQ (Frequent Asked Questions)

When will the RAD 2005 Conference be held?
The conference will be held in Washington, DC, July 19-23, 2005.

Are any meals included in the combo ticket packet or individual ticket?
Yes, there will be 3 meals:
1) 2 buffets
     a) at Flamingo Ball, Tuesday, night, July 19th
     b) at RAD Pageant Night, Friday evening, July 22nd
2) banquet, Saturday, July 23rd

Will there by any individual tickets?
Yes, the breakdown on prices for individual ticket for each event is listed in website: www.deafcmra.org and click on the left margin, RAD2005.

Which is cheaper, combo ticket or individual ticket?
Combo ticket is cheaper.

Will there be any activities beside delegate meetings at the conference?
Yes, we will have Flamingo Ball, Men's Night, Womyn's Night, Men's and Womyn's Nights, Deaf Youth Night, possibly Transgenders Night, Special Interest Groups (SIG), Workshops, Exhibits, Internet Café, Tours (TBA*), Pageant Night, Banquet Night, International Deaf Leather (IDL)/International Deaf Bear Organization (IDBO) Contests (both contests are not included in combo and individual tickets).

Is the RAD Conference for men only?
No, RAD bylaws already states that the conference is open to all regardless of ethnic and diverse backgrounds (including gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders and heterosexuals).

Can I make a hotel reservation?
Yes, you can contact Grand Hyatt Washington online. When you visit www.deafcmra.org, click on RAD2005 and enter Hotel Reservation. There you will be able to click and be online with hotel for room reservation. Please use code word RAD so you would get special rate for hotel room). You are encouraged to make room reservation as soon as you can.

What is the hotel room rate?
$179.00 plus taxes.

Will Sunday brunch (July 24) be included in combo or individual ticket?
No.

Will the conference committee assist in getting us hotel roommate(s)?
Unfortunately not. You are encouraged to advertise your need for hotel roommate(s) through email, RADChapters, FLASH, ZOOM or any other means of electronic contacts.

Can you be a volunteer?
Yes, you may find volunteer form on the website at www.deafcmra.org and click RAD 2005 at left margin. Fill out and send the form to CMRA/RAD 2005 Host Conference, Attn: Vilas Johnson, Volunteer Coordinator, PO Box 44656, Washington, DC 20026-4656, or contact Vilas at VMJohnson1@aol.com.

If interested, how can you provide an exhibit or conduct a workshop?
Yes, please check on the website for exhibit or workshop application form.

Are there any parking privileges at conference hotel?
No, the hotel does not have parking facilities. However, there are several parking lots nearby - the average rate is $20 per day. However, you are encouraged to fly or go by train. There are subway trains from National Airport or Union Station to Metro Center, which is close by to the hotel.
